SP0411N Install Your Hard Disk Drive Using Disk Manager Utility
The following free hard disk drive utility is only for Samsung Hard Disk Drives. Using this utility on a hard disk drive that was not manufactured by Samsung will have adverse effects on that hard disk drive:
Systems that have older BIOS may have a capacity barrier and will not recognize high capacity hard disk drives. You can use the Disk Manager Utility to correct this problem.
Important: You will need one the following downloads to create and install the Disk Manager Utility.
- Click DM_Creator.zip(For FDD) for the Floppy Disk Drive install disk version.
- Click DM_Creator.zip (For CD ROM Drive) for the CD-ROM Drive install disk version.
Creating the Disk Manager Floppy install disk
- Download the DM Creator.zip.
- Extract the file. Once extracted you will see the DM_Creator.exe file.
- Prepare an empty 3.5" floppy diskette and inset it into your Floppy Disk Drive.
- Execute the DM_Creator.exe. (This will create the Disk Manager Install disk.)
- Set your BIOS to boot to the Floppy Disk Drive.
- Restart your system with the Disk Manager Utility in your Floppy Disk Drive.
Creating the Disk Manager CD-ROM install disk
- Download the DM Creator.zip.
- Extract the file. Once extracted you will see the DM.ISO file.
- Create a Disk Manager Boot Disk, using CD burning software that can burn a Bootable ISO image. (Nero Express) for example can burn the ISO disc image.
- Set your BIOS to boot to the CD-ROM drive.
- Restart you system with the Disk Manager Utility in your CD-ROM drive.
Notes:
- For CMOS setup with hard drive, select Auto Detect or type parameters as Cyl : 1024 / Hd : 16 / Sec : 63
- If the parameter is set up as 'None', Disk Manager can not be installed.
- If you have 32GB barrier, you must use the 'Limit Capacity to 32GB' jumper setting.
If after performing the troubleshooting procedure listed above your hard disk drive is not detected by your BIOS please try the hard disk drive in another system. If the issue follows the hard disk drive, click here to request an exchange for your hard disk drive.
